Hi Everyone! It's been a while but here goes my second blog post about our adventures at the barn! Soon after we decided to turn our barn into a wedding venue, I developed a serious Pinterest addiction. I regularly scour the boards looking for decorating ideas. I’ve come across hundreds and hundreds of beautifully done ceremony and reception details that I love, like flowers, mason jars, wooden signs, rustic ladders…the list goes on and on. It’s awesome and terrible at the same time! Anyway, I decided pretty early on that I absolutely had to have a couple of wine or whiskey barrels. I mean they are functional, beautiful and add just the right touch to nearly any theme. What is not to love? Our very first bride actually brought two of her own, so I knew they would be a hit with our couples too!
The search was on! I was a woman on a mission. The first thing I found was a bad case of sticker shock! Who knew that old barrels are like gold? Still, I confidently insisted to my skeptical husband, Ray, I’d find a great deal. After searching and searching I’d finally decided I was probably going to have to adjust my expectations and, even worse, tell Ray that he was right and I was wrong. Just when it looked like all was lost, I came across an amazing find! Ten wine barrels in great condition on clearance! Crazy, right? It gets even better….when I agreed to take them all, I got an additional discount! Best day ever!!! Now I am quite sure that some people would find ten barrels excessive, which is nonsense of course! I love them all equally and so do our brides:)
